FACEBOOK REMOVES 'INAUTHENTIC' ACCOUNTS

Facebook said on Friday that it had removed seven separate fake accounts and pages operating in Iran, Afghanistan, Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Myanmar, Georgia, and Ukraine.
The social media site announced as part of its monthly report that it had removed new networks as "integrated passive behavior" and that in October Facebook had removed nearly 8,000 pages involved in deceptive campaigns around the world. Many of the networks removed through Facebook have engaged in politically influential campaigns targeting audiences at home and abroad using fake accounts.
A network of Facebook accounts and pages run by individuals affiliated with the Islamist movement from Egypt, Turkey, and Morocco, the Egyptian Islamic movement that runs networks of groups across the Middle East. Facebook said the pages targeted countries in the region and contained some content related to terrorism.
Facebook detected two "unreliable" networks that spread political content in Georgia, one of which identified individuals affiliated with two political parties. In Ukraine and Myanmar, social media outlets were found to be conducting similar deceptive campaigns on behalf of political parties. The company is setting fire to such accounts worldwide for failing to quickly develop enough tools to combat extremist content and Campaign activities.
