TikTok's, a short video sharing app, said on Monday that it had signed a deal with Sony Music Entertainment to give all of its users access to Sony's music industry, including global artists such as Beyonc, Martin Garrix, and Harry Styles.
The deal will allow Sony Music to use TikTok's site, which owns several viral internet trends, and is gaining fans quickly as emerging artists promote its artists.
The creator of the social media platform said in its announcement that the community will have access to current achievements, new releases, iconic classics, emerging favorites, and deep cuts in many genres. TikTok's and Sony Music work together to enable greater user customization and creativity on the video platform. TikTok's will collaborate with leading artists of the music label to create opportunities for fan engagement.
Ole Oberman, TikTok's global music director, said, "At a time when the art community, in particular, is challenging us to find new ways to reach fans with their music, we have a responsibility to work together to do that."
