Depending on your sympathy level for Madonna, she is having either an unfortunate spell of bad PR or a well-deserved dose of karma.

Despite getting less than stellar critical and public reviews of her last directing effort, 2008′s Filth and Wisdom, Madonna once again tried her hand at directing. W.E., which follows the tale of Wally Winthrop, a woman infatuated with King Edward VIII’s marriage in the 1930s.

Despite the film being panned by critics, Madonna, 53, attended its London Premiere last night and according to MailOnline, found herself facing boos from the crowd. The surly fans were expressing their irritation at waiting for hours on the red carpet to see the songstress-turned-director, only to be passed over when she deigned to speak only to a few.

However, being the seasoned professional that she is, Madge smiled her way through the fiasco. When asked about the negative reviews for W.E., she again smiled and said “It doesn’t matter what the critics think, it’s what the public thinks.” Madonna must not have heard those boos after all!

Her publicity problems don’t end there. Now Madonna’s older brother Anthony Ciccone, 55, is speaking to the press about his homelessness after losing his job at his father’s vineyard. Anthony stated blankly, “My family turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time…”

However, Anthony would be remiss to expect little sister Madonna to help him out after he published a decidedly unflattering tell-all book about her in 2008 called “Life with My Sister Madonna.”
