Haputale is a town and a municipal council in the Badulla District in the province of Uva, Sri Lanka. Elevation 1431 m (4695 ft) above sea level. The region is rich in biodiversity, rich in flora and fauna. Haputale is surrounded by cloud forests and mountains covered with tea gardens.
The city has a cooler climate than its surroundings. Haputale Pass allows views of the southern plains of Sri Lanka. The southwestern boundary of the Uva Basin is marked by the Haputale Mountain Range, which extends into the Horton Plains and Adam's Peak in the west. In 2010, CNN named Haputale one of the most overlooked places in Asia.
