ZOOM WILL ROLL OUT END-TO-END ENCRYPTION FOR ALL USERS FROM NEXT WEEK

Zoom will start next week and generate the final first final encryption. Free and paid users can host up to 200 participants in final first-to-last encryption (E2EE) meeting on the video conferencing platform. Zoom said the feature will initially be available as a technical preview so users can provide feedback to the company for the first 30 days. This is Phase 1 of the four-step process for the final first encryption scrolling. Zoom plans to launch Phase 2 in 2021, which will include final-to-final encryption with better identity management and single-login integration.
Although Zoom thrives on infections and many users rely on virtual communication methods, its security practices have come under criticism. End-to-end encryption is an attempt to secure the site.
Previously, Zoom would generate encryption keys and distribute them to participants. Now, with final-to-final encryption, the meeting host generates the encryption keys and distributes these keys to other meeting participants using public-key encryption. In a blog post, Zoom said it still uses the same GCM encryption; there was a difference in where those encryption keys live.
Enabling the final first-to-last encryption in the current version of Zoom will disable certain features such as host pre-hosting, cloud recording, streaming, live transcription, breakout rooms, voting, 1: 1 private chat, and meeting reactions.
