APPLE SUES RECYLING PARTNER FOR RESELLING IPHONES, IPADS AND WATCHES

Apple is taking another company to courts!
The tech giant is filing a lawsuit against its former recycling partner GEEP Canada- which is now part of the Quantum Lifecycle Partners- under the assumption that the company stole and resold more than 100,000 units of iPhones, iPads, and watches. The company was originally tasked to disassemble the units. “At least 11,766 pounds of Apple devices left GEEP’s premises without being destroyed - a fact that GEEP itself confirmed,” reads a portion of Apple’s complaint, as per reports.
According to reports, the recycling firm received over 500,000 iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches between 2015 and December 2017 which was to be disassembled. However, after Apple conducted an audit, it was found that 18% of those devices were still functioning and accessing the internet. The other Apple devices without a cellular network are not accounted for in the 18% which invariably could mean more devices were resold.
Apple is seeking to obtain at least $31 million Canadian dollars (approximately $22.7 million USD) from its former recycling partner. Meanwhile, the recycling firm denies all claims and state that some employees were the ones stealing from the company.
