FARMVILLE WILL BE SHUTTING DOWN ON FACEBOOK THIS YEAR

If you want to harvest your crops, well then you should do it quick: Zynga is officially shutting down its original FarmVille web game on Facebook towards the end of the year, the company stated. However, this is not sudden news since Facebook declared in July that it would no longer be supporting Flash games as of December 31st, which is coincidentally the same date Adobe will be discontinuing the Flash Player.
However, it does feel like an era of gaming is coming to an end. Although the game would be silly to play, it was a complete win for Zynga. The game was started back in 2009 and had more than 10 million active users playing the game daily in less than 2 months. At its peak, the game had an estimate of 30 million players playing the game daily, raking boggling revenues for Zynga.
Subsequently, the company launched a mobile version and a sequel to the game, however these were unable to come close to the experience of the first game.
Players can continue to make in-app purchases until November 17th, since the payment system will be coming to a stop on that day. However, you can still continue to play the game until its eventually shutting down on a December 31st.
The good news is though, Zynga says they will be releasing FarmVille 3 very soon.
