HUMMANAYA

Hummanaya Blowhole is the only known blowhole in Sri Lanka and is considered to be the second-largest blowhole in the world.
Hummanaya refers to the sound of "hoo" which can be heard in the distance when the blowhole is active.
The Hummanaya Blowhole has located 1.1 km (0.7 mi) from the small fishing village of Kudawella, 28 km (17 mi) from Matara, 5 km (3.1 mi) from Dikwella, and 12 km (7.5 mi) from Tangalle. Southern Province.
Hummanaya is a natural blower and occurs when seawater rushes through a submerged cave and is pushed upwards. Seawater flows beneath the shore and then comes out of this hole due to pressure. The fountain, created by a geographical feature, shoots every two minutes depending on the nature of the ocean, and the spray often ranges from 25 m (82 ft) to 30 m (98 ft).
The site is now designed to attract tourists, with a small visitor information center and viewing site about marine life.
