THE WITCHER UNIVERSE IS HEADING TO OUR SMARTPHONE WITH NEW GAME "THE WITCHER: MONSTER SLAYER"

The Witcher: Monster Slayer is following the trend set by Pokémon Go in 2016.
The CD Projekt’s version of The Witcher — the mutant monster hunter which was initially created by author Andrzej Sapkowski — has taken many different forms. Naturally, there are the video games for consoles and PC, however, there is also a spin-off collectible card game, a tabletop role-playing game, and a Netflix series starring Henry Cavil. And its latest form will be an augmented reality game.
In an update issued on Wednesday by CD Projekt said its newest studio — Spokko, which was started in 2018 — has been caught up with the Monster Slayer project. They’ve released a teaser trailer on Youtube which depicts a player walking through an all too real forest to subsequently meet an Ent-like abomination seen only through the phone.
Little about the gameplay, other than stumbling upon virtual monsters in the real world, was revealed in the trailer. The news release, on the other hand, makes this sound like a very interesting game indeed.
CD Projekt stated that players will be expected to do more than simply roam around collecting monsters. The AR game will have “rich, story-driven quests inspired by other games from the series.”
The Witcher: Monster Slayer will be set to drop on both iOS and Android platforms later this year, and will be free-to-play.
