CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS COLD WAR WILL NOT HAVE A FREE NEXT GEN UPGRADE

Treyarch and Activision will release Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War inside the Warzone mode — the franchise’s free-to-play battle royale mode on August 26. However, the next edition in the Call of Duty series has already had several leaks this week. Earlier in the week, users discovered a full description for the new game and have now additionally uncovered multiple different editions — including the Cross-Gen Bundle.
In regards to the leak, Activision will supposedly offer a Standard Edition, Cross-Gen Bundle, and Ultimate Edition. The Standard Edition is assumed to be, as the title suggests, pretty basic— coming with the Frank Woods Operator and beta when you pre-order. The Cross-Gen Bundle is an interesting inclusion here.
The evident existence of a Cross-Gen Bundle implies that players who purchase the standard edition won’t automatically be given access to the upgraded version of the Cold War for PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X. The Cross-Gen Bundle could cost more — although it hopefully would cost less than buying the full game a second time.
We’ll likely learn more about the price for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War during the unveiling event on August 26.
