APPLE FIRES BACK AT EPIC LAWSUIT "WE WON'T MAKE AN EXCEPTION"

Apple has responded to Epic Games’ latest salvo in the continuing argument between the two companies. According to Epic, Apple has been threatening to nullify its access to iOS and Mac developer tools by removing it from the Apple Developer Program unless it discontinues a rule-violating payment processing option that it added into Fortnite.
“We very much want to keep the company as part of the Apple Developer Program and their apps on the Store,” Apple said in a statement. “The problem Epic has created for itself is one that can easily be remedied if they submit an update of their app that reverts it to comply with the guidelines they agreed to and which apply to all developers.”
Epic’s sudden update on Fortnite was configured to get around app store guidelines that require developers use the platform owners’ payment systems for in-app purchases of digital goods such as V-bucks, which give Apple and Google a 30-percent commission. The rules only apply to digital items and not any piece of physical article.
Apple and Google took out Fortnite from the App Store and the Play Store in response to Epic’s violation, and Epic responded with prepared lawsuits suing the two companies for anticompetitive practices. Additionally, Epic has filed a preliminary injunction urged the courts to prevent Apple from striking it off the developer program; otherwise, Apple says Epic has until August 28th to make the changes.
