The thriving city of Galle is a fortified old town perched in the South Western tip 119 km from Colombo. It is just a single bus or car ride away from Colombo and is accessible along the Southern Express Way. Once there, you can take in the eye-catching architecture of the city and the lush beaches teeming with cozy boutique-style hotels and lavish villas.

The resuscitation of Galle has also positively affected its coastline. The city’s main attraction is the 17^th century Dutch Fort, which was originally built by the Portuguese; subsequently further developed by the Dutch and the British is considered a World Heritage site and is protected by UNESCO. It covers almost 4 km² and is protected by 12 bastions and connecting ramparts. Inside the fort is a maze of narrow roads lined with Dutch styled houses and quirky shops that continue to have Dutch names to this very day.

It also provides access to the upmarket beach settlement of Thalpe and the beautiful beaches of Unawatuna, Koggala, and Habaraduwa. Some of the other popular sights to look forward to in Galle are The Galle International Cricket Stadium, The Koggala Lake, The Koggala Folk museum, and the Yatagala Temple.
