"THE LAST OF US" PART 2 GETS A MAJOR CONTENT UPDATE
The Last of Us Part 2’s is releasing a new content update which will be dropped on Thursday, Aug. 13. It is set to return the first game’s extremely tough “Grounded” difficulty setting and will introduce a PermaDeath” mode, developer Naughty Dog announced Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Evidently, information was leaked out through the game’s Trophies, which Naughty Dog recently updated with two new ones that addressed “PermaDeath” and the Grounded difficulty.

For ‘fight for your life dangers’ you face in The Last of Us Part 2, it’s not necessarily a super tough game on the factory settings ‘difficult’, given you play smart. The new “Grounded” difficulty level, players might recall the previous installment of the game “The Last of Us increases the difficulty meter.

On the "Grounded" setting, enemies are deadlier, crafting materials and ammo are “incredibly rare,” and gameplay assists like ‘Listen Mode’ and certain HUD elements are deactivated, reported by Naughty Dog. Once the Grounded Update (which patches the game to version 1.05) is out on Thursday, the Grounded difficulty will be available from the beginning of the game.

To add insult to the injury, the patch will also see the return of permadeath mode, which was not seen in the original game. The mode is exactly what it means; players will are required to complete the entire game without dying. Although, you can choose to play the “PermaDeath” mode with checkpoints on a per-chapter or per-act basis says Naughty Dog.
