MOUNT PEDRO, THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN ACROSS THE ISLAND

Pidurutalagala or also famously known as Mount Pedro, is the highest mountain of Sri Lanka, with a height of 2,524 meters high and is situated close to Nuwara Eliya and is visibly from most of the areas of the Central Province.
It hosts the central communications array of the Government of Sri Lanka and is protected by the armed forces and is an important point in the country’s radar system. There is an easily accessible road up to the mountain peak and permission should be taken from the Sri Lanka Army checkpoint at the mountain entrance to enter.
Although it may sound like a hassle, the view at the summit is definitely worth the climb as it is home to breathtaking scenery with the perfect vantage point as you can see the Sri Lankan hill countryside, filled with rich mountains draped in lush green forestry with booming wildlife, and sceneries which will definitely make you see that “Heaven is a place on Earth”.
