Climbing the Grease Pole
Climbing the Grease Pole is an annual popular Avurudu Game. It’s a game that shows the strength of the males in the village. Mainly played as a team sports the winner is determined by the person who picks the flag in the shortest time.
A very long timber pole made from a puwak tree, about 10 metres high, is fixed into the ground. At the top of the pole a flag is placed to be picked. The digital version has the similar concept with player with the least amount of attempts becomes the winner.
The first person to climb with the minimum attempts becomes the winner.
